Washing A Mattress Pad

Mattress pads are thick items designed to be placed on top of a mattress and below a bedsheet in order to help reduce allergens protect the mattress from wear and tear and add comfort to an old or poor quality mattress.

While the best way to clean a mattress pad is to follow the washing instructions on the care label this may not always get the job done for tough stains or for removing dust mites. Use a gentle detergent for this bedding and dry it at the temperature recommended on. Step 3 presoak the mattress pad for 10 to 15 minutes.
Forte recommends following the care label for specific cleaning directions but in general most mattress pads can be machine. However many mattress pad buyers are confused about whether or not they should wash it before using it and if they do how should they go about it. A standard mattress pad needs regular cleaning in the washing machine if it is machine washable but what do you do with the tough stains.
Make sure that it s fully submerged and not just floating on the top of the water. Before washing remember to check both sides of the pad to make sure there are no open seams or tears in the fabric. The spinning and agitation are too much for the delicate structure.
Just remember to never put foam pads either plain ones or those encased in fabric in a washing machine. Load the mattress pad loosely into your washing machine being careful not to wrap the heating coils too tightly around the agitator. Both of these mattress pads can be cleaned in the washing machine.
You will want to wash it to clean any residue which has soaked into it and also to deter your mattress cover from yellowing due to sweating or potential bacteria growth. Add the amount of mild laundry soap according to the soap package. Washing a large foam pad can be a bit awkward and time consuming but it can be done.
Before you get started check to see if there are any cleaning instructions on the tag. Once you ve got the water and detergent thoroughly mixed add your mattress pad to the washing machine. If this happens the vinyl backing on your pad can block the fabric from reaching the water.
